In Soul music everything comes together: fun, emotion, dance, love and rawness. Led by Remko Spaaij’s powerful voice, this 7 piece band turn every night into a timeless soul celebration.
The Soul Survivors from Amsterdam are mainly talented twenty-somethings from the conservatory who know where the roots of pop music lie. The band consists of friends who left their marks in the Amsterdam live music scene. The Soul Survivors hit the audience with songs from Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and the Temptations, among others.
Singer Remko Spaaij has that dark soul voice that enchants every room. The rhythm section and horns bring the Motown and Memphis soul sound back to this time. Soul Survivors dare to deviate from the beaten track by also playing the lesser-known songs from the soul catalogue, including the neo-soul of today. Every now and then, the band slips in a rousing song of their own.
Soul also means blues and rock. Think of how the Blues Brothers did it. A blues cover by Andre Hazes is also on the set list. The band can transform any party into the Northern Soul dance nights of the English 1970s as in the Commitments movie. Soul Survivors, with heart and soul.
